Southeast Asia
Southeast Asia includes the present-day countries of Myanmar (formerly Burma), Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, and the Philippines. Art, culture, and religion for many of the countries in this region was influenced by Indian models. As early as the fifth century, Buddhism and Hinduism were the predominant religions practiced in Southeast Asia. Although the art in this region was often introduced from India, it was adapted to suit local artistic and cultural styles and practices.
